Odyssey Junior celebrates beautiful moments
“I can’t wait for Wednesdays when I get to attend Mommy’s school,” says one of our Odyssey Junior kids. While the adults attend class, their children — ranging from newborns to teens — fill our Odyssey space with the sound of laughter and learning. They receive new books, meet authors, read to therapy dogs, make music, do yoga, choreograph dances, play word games, learn about world cultures, tour colleges, write stories, pose for pictures, go on field trips, create artwork in different media, and discover new pride in their own identities. See highlights below from a few of Odyssey Junior kids’ favorite moments: visiting the circus, an author visit, movement with Keena, and creating artwork!
Circus
Odyssey Junior spent a day spinning, flying, tumbling, and playing at Madison Circus Space. A fun spring event for all ages (including parents and staff!), we learned some new skills and shared lots of laughter. MCS seeks to “engage people interested in circus and movement arts to learn, share, and grow as a community.”

Author Visit
Baptiste Paul, author, speaker, environmentalist, and activist, joined Odyssey Junior for an inspiring evening of sharing stories, signing books, and answering lots of student questions! His newest book Dear You, Dream Big! is “a powerful, lyrical anthem of Black pride celebrating Black creativity, leadership, and innovation.”

Movement with Keena
All year, Keena Atkinson, Odyssey alum and founder of R’oujie Wellness, has brought movement and joy to our Odyssey Junior classes—most recently the Baby Badgers! Keena works with students to develop their confidence, self-regulation, and teamwork skills through dance, yoga, and community building exercises.

Creative Corner
Odyssey Junior aims to encourage students’ creative self-expression. A few of the things we’ve done recently included learning about stop motion animation, designing our own school buses, and coloring together!
