For the first time since 2019, we resumed our annual tradition of taking 30 new Odyssey students by bus from South Madison to the UW campus.
The first stop was Union South, where the Wiscard office stayed open late to help students get photo ID cards. “It’s official now!” posted Mark on Facebook, holding his UW ID card. Others shed “happy tears” as they felt a new sense of belonging. Next, we traveled to the Chazen Museum of Art to meet with Odyssey’s art history professor, Gene Phillips, take a group photo, and explore works of art ranging from ancient Greek urns to shocking 21st-century statues. “I’m coming back!” “Mind-blowing!” and “Unforgettable!” commented students before boarding the bus back to South Madison.
