A magical evening in Spring Green

Odyssey students on a trip to American Player's Theatre

What a magical evening we had last Sunday at American Players Theatre seeing A Raisin in the Sun with 70 Odyssey students, alumni, staff, and guests! Current student Aida, whose nine-year-old son loved attending the play with her, treasured the story of Mama’s strength in the face of bigotry. “It reminded me of the presence of racism in the indigenous community where I come from in Ecuador,” Aida wrote. Other students commented, “Breathtaking!” “Life-changing!” “A natural high!”

We thank American Players Theatre for tickets and incredible support, American Family Insurance for sponsorship, Dane Arts for helping with transportation to Spring Green, and Yusuf Bin-Rella for preparing delicious picnic suppers. A special shoutout to APT company member Gavin Lawrence for talking to our group before the show and for his profound portrayal of Walter Lee Younger.
